Accountant
We are accepting applications for a full-time Accountant to join our growing accounting and tax team!
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on and leading accounting projects of various sizes and be confident to delegate tasks and setting deadlines to other members of the team as and when required, concurrently assisting the accounting manager in the successful management of our accounting team.
An Overview of What You’ll Be Doing:
- The bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients (posting of invoices, reconciliation of bank statements, handle workings for accruals and prepayments).
- Preparing monthly/quarterly detailed management accounts.
- Liaising with auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
- Reviewing financial statements under IFRS and GAPSME framework.
- Compiling and submitting VAT returns and tax refund claim forms.
- Reviewing the work carried out by junior team members with attention to detail.
- Communicating with clients to acquire the necessary paperwork and documentation to complete the accounting and corporate tax returns.
- Reviewing and verifying clients’ tax forms to ensure their proper and timely submissions.
- Researching tax laws and regulations while seeking the advice of the accounting manager/director when dealing with particularly challenging tax circumstances.
- Assisting clients with benefitting from any applicable tax credit schemes.
- Responding to notices from tax authorities and liaising with the relevant entities.
- Assisting non-financial managers with the interpretation and provision of financial data.
- Performing any ad hoc requests by management.
What We Are Looking for in You:
- Already residing in Malta.
- Holding a complete ACCA qualification or a University degree in Accountancy.
- Having a minimum of 2 years of local experience, which includes good knowledge in Maltese VAT and income tax legislation.
- An excellent command of English, both verbally and in writing.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word. Familiarity in the use of an accounting software is also essential.
- You are a good communicator and an active listener.
- Having strong organisational skills and a good eye for detail.
- A pro in effective time management coupled with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
